CHINESE GREEN BEANS STIR-FRIED WITH PORK
In the heat, cooking may become a chore—even for me! However, this recipe of Chinese green beans with pork (or chicken or beef!) is delectable and quick to put together in the oven.
When it’s hot and muggy outside, I’m in need for something quick and easy to eat. Of all, a quick and easy meal must also be tasty. You know us––when it comes to flavor, we won’t compromise. This stir-fry of green beans and pork from China delivers on all those promises.
INGREDIENTS:
PORK & MARINADE:
- 8 oz. of ground pork
- 1 tbsp. of Shaoxing wine
- 1 tbsp. of light soy sauce
- 1 tbsp. of dark soy sauce
- 2 tbsp. of water
- 2 tbsp. of ginger (minced)
- 1/2 tsp. of sugar
- 1 tsp. of cornstarch
THE REST OF THE DISH:
- 3 tbsp. of oil(divided)
- 1 lb. of green beans (chopped into ½-inch pieces)
- 2 tbsp. of garlic (minced)
- 1/2 red bell pepper (diced finely)
- 4 pcs. of red chilies (chopped)
- 1/4 tsp. of sugar
- 1 tsp. of sesame oil
- 1 tbsp. of light soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp. of ground white pepper
- 1/8 tsp. of salt (a pinch)
- 2 tbsp. of water
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Combine the marinated ingredients with the ground meat. Stir the meat until it has absorbed all of the liquid. Allow 15 to 20 minutes of marinating time.
- Over medium heat, add 2 teaspoons of oil to a wok. Add the green beans, and chop. Toss and spread the beans into a single layer after stirring. A minute and a half are all that is needed. To finish cooking the green beans, stir and spread them out numerous times until they are scorched and wilted. If necessary, reduce the temperature to avoid overheating. This method of cooking green beans takes roughly 8 to 10 minutes. Add a few drops of water each time you mix to speed up the cooking process. Set the cooked green beans aside in a serving dish for later.
- Turn the heat up to high and add 1 tablespoon of oil to the wok. Ground meat should be added and browned. Allow the meat to be brown and crisp without overstirring. Heat should be reduced once the meat has been browned to medium.
- Garlic, bell pepper, and chiles are next on the list. For a minute and a half, stir-fry. Serve with 2 tablespoons water and a pinch of salt (to taste), along with the green beans and the remaining 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 1/4 teaspoon crushed white pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon sugar. Stir-fry for a further 10-15 seconds over high heat before serving.
