Honey Lemon Chicken

The honey lemon sauce on this chicken is to die for. A recipe that everyone can make at home in a hurry and with little effort.

One of my all-time favorite dishes is honey lemon chicken. To put it simply, it’s a combo of two of my favorite recipes: honey chicken and lemon chicken. Thus, it’s no surprise that it’s one of my personal favorites.

CRISPY HONEY LEMON CHICKEN

Sweet honey and lemony sauce are drizzled over battered chicken that has been fried to crispy perfection. My salivary glands are already tingling at the mere thought of it.

COOK’S TIPS

  • Shallow frying is the most convenient method for frying chicken.
  • So, you don’t need to use a lot of oil. Just cook the chicken until it’s crispy and crunchy on medium heat. On the other hand, the process is more time-consuming, but the end product is worth it.

Easy to make and deliciously satisfying. Please continue reading and try this recipe out for dinner tonight as the last recommendation!

INGREDIENTS

  • toasted sesame seeds to garnish
  • 1 lettuce leaf
  • oil for deep-frying
  • 12 oz. (350 g) chicken breast, cut into thin strips

MARINADE:

  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

HONEY LEMON SAUCE:

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup water

FRYING BATTER:

  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • Scant 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, sifted

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. For 10 minutes, marinate the chicken strips in the Marinade. Prepare the frying batter, lightly whisk the egg, and then incorporate the remaining frying batter components in a large bowl. It must be neither lumpy nor very runny for the batter to be smooth. Add the chicken strips to the batter with a fork or spoon and mix until they are coated. Combine all Honey Lemon Sauce’s components in a bowl and set aside.
  2. With medium-high heat, add the oil to a wok. Spread the battered chicken strips before gently dropping them into the hot oil. Deep-fried the chicken strips to a golden brown. Afterwards, dry the dishes with paper towels.
  3. Cook over low heat, stirring the Honey Lemon Sauce until slightly thickened. Stir it just long enough for the sauce to start bubbling. Remove the pot from the heat.
  4. Place the lettuce on a platter, top with the chicken pieces, drizzle with Honey Lemon Sauce, and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve with steamed rice as soon as possible.
