Wholesome Blueberry Yogurt Delight: Mama’s Scone Cravings

Crafting baked treats for loved ones holds a special warmth, doesn’t it? One day, as Mama hinted at her yearning for something baked and delicious, I glimpsed dried blueberries in our fridge. That sight, combined with memories of a Summer Berry Pie, led to the birth of a blueberry yogurt scone.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fine all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons sugar (and an additional 1/2 teaspoon)
  • 1 tablespoon (plus 1/2 teaspoon) baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of refined salt
  • 5 tablespoons of chilled butter
  • 1 fresh egg
  • 2/3 cup creamy vanilla yogurt
  • ½ cup sun-dried blueberries
  • A splash of milk (1 tablespoon)

Steps to Your Perfect Scone

1. Set your oven to warm up at 425 degrees. As it heats, combine your flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a roomy mixing bowl. With the help of butter knives or a pastry blender, integrate the cold butter, ensuring it’s well distributed without any large buttery lumps.

2. In a separate vessel, mingle the egg with the yogurt. Infuse this blend into your flour-butter amalgamation, introducing the dried blueberries at the same time. Gently unite all ingredients using a spatula, careful not to over-mix. If your dough feels slightly parched, a dash of whole milk can be added incrementally until the texture feels right.

4. Craft a glaze by combining 1/2 teaspoon of sugar with your milk. Gracefully brush this atop each scone. Slide them into your pre-heated oven, reducing the temperature to 400 degrees. Allow them to bake until they boast a golden hue, roughly 12 minutes.
