Mashed Sweet Potatoes

It’s the most incredible sweet potato mash you can make yourself. This is a five-ingredient mashed sweet potato recipe that’s nutritious and delicious.

MASHED SWEET POTATOES RECIPE

Sweet potatoes, butter, milk, salt, and pepper are needed to make this simple mash.

Indulge your taste buds with this crowd-pleaser of a side dish. Aside from that, it’s pretty tasty.

I followed chef Jol Robuchon’s recipe for mashed sweet potatoes, and they are the best I’ve ever had!

Brown sugar, honey, marshmallow, or any other sweetener is omitted from the dish altogether.

Thus, it’s nutritious without being sugary. The peppery flavor goes well with the yam’s inherent sweetness.

Please give this recipe a try this Thanksgiving, and you’ll never go back to the overly sugary, marshmallow-laden version!

HOW TO MAKE MASHED SWEET POTATOES?

This simple recipe necessitates applying specialized techniques employed by renowned French chefs.

The first step is to boil the yam for 30 minutes in heated water.

The next step is to remove the yam’s skin and mash it with a spoon. Finally, heat butter, milk, salt, and pepper in a saucepan to make mashed potatoes.

The secret to making delicious mashed sweet potatoes is to stir the mash constantly.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1.5 – 2 sticks cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Maldon sea salt flakes for sprinkling
  • 1 cup (250 ml) whole milk
  • 3 dashes ground white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon coarse salt
  • 3 dashes ground white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon coarse salt
  • 2.5 lbs. yam/sweet potatoes
  • Maldon sea salt flakes for sprinkling
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon chopped Italian parsley

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Add 8 cups of cold water and 1 tablespoon of coarse salt to a pot and bring to a boil. Bringing the saucepan to a simmer, covering it, and cooking for about 30 minutes, or until a knife easily slides into the sweet potatoes is recommended. After rinsing the sweet potatoes, peel off their skins.
  2. It is best to use the back of a large spoon for this task. A potato masher can also be used. The mashed sweet potatoes should be transferred to a food processor or electric mixer and processed until silky creamy.
  3. Bring the milk to a boil in your small saucepan. While you’re waiting for the sweet potatoes to cool, move them to a Dutch oven. On low heat, melt the cooled butter cubes with the sweet potatoes, constantly stirring for about five minutes until smooth and creamy.
  4. Stir as you add the boiling milk. Continue to stir until all of the milk has been absorbed, then remove from the heat and serve immediately! Salt and ground white pepper should be added at this point.
  5. As soon as they’re ready, serve out the mashed sweet potatoes. Before serving, sprinkle the mashed sweet potatoes with Maldon sea salt flakes, chopped parsley, and two tiny butter cubes.
